As long as the children are dependent on you, the purpose is very clear..to take care of them. Then when they leave the nest and have a life of their own to live,the same purpose is no more relevant.
I was surprised when my daughter told me that I keep needing you in my life because I want you to have that as the reason for living.
It amused me no end to realise that the child is scared that her mother will stop living if that purpose of taking care of her gets over.
I told her that it is not true.
I need to know that my children are strong and can take care of themself. Only then can I turn my life to other meaningful things. I made her understand my point of view.
I am happy that we discussed this.
